Quinlan Grew Toward the Lake

Quinlan began around 1892 as a stop on the Texas Midland Railroad and was incorporated in 1896. Cotton gave way to oil in the 1930s and 1940s, and after Lake Tawakoni was built in the 1950s, the town grew steadily toward the water. That growth left a mixed housing stock: 26% of Quinlan homes date from the 1980s, 16% from the 1960s, and about 13% are mobile homes.

We reach Quinlan in about 45 minutes without traffic. With close to 60% of homes owner-occupied and a large share of rentals and lake properties, we hear from owners, landlords and weekend residents alike.

What to watch for

Near Tawakoni: Quinlan Problem Areas

Mobile Homes Near the Lake

Pole-mounted services and pedestal meters take a beating from weather. Corroded lugs and loose connections cause flickering, dimming or half the home going dead.

1980s Panels Showing Wear

A panel from the 1980s is forty years old now. Breakers that trip at random or feel warm, and signs of heat at the bus, are reasons to have it evaluated.

Lake Cabins With DIY Wiring

Weekend places near the lake often picked up extra outlets and lights over the years. Checking for proper boxes, connections and GFCI protection is a smart first step.

Quinlan Electrician Questions

Do you serve Quinlan and the Lake Tawakoni area?

Yes. Quinlan is about 45 minutes from our Crandall office without traffic, and we schedule visits around the lake as well.

Half my mobile home keeps losing power. What causes that?

Often a loose or corroded connection on one leg of the service, at the meter base, the feeder lugs or the main breaker. It needs an electrician soon, since loose connections heat up.

Is Farmers Electric Cooperative my utility in Quinlan?

Possibly, if you are outside town. The co-op is based in Greenville and serves rural Hunt County, while in-town ZIP 75474 has retail plans on Oncor lines. Your bill settles it.
