North Richland Hills Began With 188 Brick Homes

North Richland Hills started in 1952, when Clarence Jones began dividing his 268-acre dairy farm into a subdivision near what is now Cummings Drive. The first 188 homes had to be brick or masonry. When Richland Hills declined to annex the area, residents formed their own city in 1953, and it has since grown into one of the largest in Tarrant County, crossed by Interstate 820 and Davis Boulevard. The drive from Crandall is about 65 minutes without traffic, so work here is scheduled in advance.

The busiest building years were the 1970s and 1980s, which together produced 46% of today's homes. The median home dates to 1986, 35% predates 1980 and 27% is newer than 2000. About two thirds of homes are detached houses. Whichever retail plan you choose in 76180, the electricity itself arrives on Oncor's lines.

Common calls

North Richland Hills Houses at 40 and 50

Early-1970s Aluminum

A house built between about 1965 and 1973 may have aluminum branch circuits. The danger is at the connections, so warm cover plates, flickering on a single circuit or a burning smell call for a prompt inspection.

1980s Panels Near Capacity

The 1980s homes are now four decades old, and many still have their first panel. We check for loose lugs, double taps and breakers that no longer trip reliably.

Outdated Interior Lighting

Older fixtures, dimmers that buzz and rooms with a single ceiling light are common in houses of this age. LED recessed lighting and new switching make a big difference.

FAQ

What North Richland Hills Callers Ask

How do I know if my house has aluminum wiring?

Look at the cable jacket in the attic or at the panel, which is often marked AL or ALUMINUM. We can confirm it in a visit and explain repair options such as approved connectors at each termination.

Can you get to North Richland Hills quickly?

It is about 65 minutes from our office without traffic, roughly 53 miles by road. We schedule jobs there ahead rather than promising same-day arrival.

Is it worth replacing an original 1980s panel?

If it is full, runs warm or has breakers that fail to trip, yes. If it is in good shape and has room, we will say so.
