Dedicated and Appliance Circuits

One Appliance, One Circuit

A dedicated circuit is a wire run and a breaker that serve one appliance and nothing else. Air conditioners, ovens, dryers and hot tubs draw a lot of current. When one of them shares a circuit with other outlets, the breaker trips, the appliance runs poorly and the wiring works harder than it should.

A to Z Electric checks your panel, sizes the circuit to the equipment it will serve, runs the new wiring and breaker, and tests the circuit before we leave. If the panel is full or short on capacity, we tell you up front and explain the options, including a panel upgrade.

We are licensed and insured (Texas license #24608), we offer same-day service whenever possible, and every installation is backed by our iron-clad warranty.

Warning Signs

Signs You Need a Dedicated Circuit

  • The breaker trips when two appliances run at once. The circuit is carrying more load than it was built for.
  • Lights dim when a big appliance starts. The AC, dryer or microwave is pulling current away from everything else on the line.
  • A large appliance runs on an extension cord or power strip. Cords and strips are not made for that kind of load.
  • Outlets or plugs feel warm. Heat at an outlet is a warning. Turn the appliance off and call us, or see our emergency electrician page if you smell burning.
  • You are adding new equipment. If the installation guide calls for its own circuit, plan for it before the delivery date.
For Your Business

Commercial Sub-Panels and Dedicated Circuits

For offices, retail spaces, multi-family buildings and property managers, we add sub-panels and dedicated circuits for HVAC, server rooms, kitchen equipment and EV stations. Each one is properly sized and properly labeled, so the next person who opens the panel knows what every breaker feeds.

See our commercial electrical services for the rest of the work we do for businesses across DFW.

Our Process

How a Dedicated Circuit Is Installed

Tell Us the Equipment

Let us know what you are adding and where it will go. The model or nameplate details help us size the circuit.

Check the Panel

We look at open breaker spaces and total capacity, and you get the price before any work begins.

Run the Circuit

New wire from the panel to the appliance, the correct breaker, and the right outlet or disconnect at the end.

Test and Label

We test the new circuit, label the breaker and show you what was done.

FAQ

Dedicated Circuit Questions

What is a dedicated circuit?

It is a circuit with its own breaker and wire run that serves one appliance only, so nothing else shares its load.

Does my panel have room for a new circuit?

It depends on the open breaker spaces and the total capacity of your service. We check both before we quote. If the panel is full or near its limit, we explain the options, such as a panel upgrade.

How much does a dedicated circuit cost?

It depends on the appliance, the distance from the panel, how easy the wire route is and the condition of the panel. You know the price up front, before any work begins.

Can you get my garage ready for an EV charger?

Yes. We can run the circuit now and install the charger when you are ready, or do both in one visit.

Do you add circuits for businesses?

Yes. We add sub-panels and dedicated circuits for HVAC, server rooms, kitchen equipment and EV stations in commercial buildings.
